Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, and Mother Teresa were peace makers and were against wars and all forms of violence.


Peace is not just about Religion and Philosophy, and politics, it's a way of life.Gandhi practiced nonviolence and civil disobedience in order to bring about peace and justice. Martin Luther King Jr. said in one of his famous quotes that violence will cause more violence and hate. Nelson Mandela worked out against apartheid (racial segregation), even if it might have cost his life. He got arrested for 20 plus years and got freed (liberated). There's no more apartheid. Mother Teresa practiced generousity, compassion, love and charity to help the poor and that was a form of peace.


Other people who were anti-war were famous singers and activists are Marvin Gaye and John Lennon and others. Marvin Gaye said "What's Going", because people are killing each other in wars... "So we've got to find a way to bring some loving here today... War is not the answer"... Look at The Gulf War, The Vietnam War, and the War in Iraq, it's because they are not listening to the voice of the people. There is a Bible principle about peace and that's what the activities are doing even if they may have a different belief.

Forced democracy does not work. The civilians of the country at war retaliate in order to defend themselves and save their own lives. They should not be called "terrorists" if they are trying to stand up for what they believe.

The Bible says in Matthew 5: 9 "Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called children of God". It means can't just pray or hope for peace but you must do something, engage in it (be active). You don't have to a particular religion to know peace, it's innate. It's start with us, ourselves first. Also violent words are a form of killing like expressions "She's gonna kill me" and insults... Verbal abuse is a form of violence.
Peace is also being tolerant of others and not judging one another.
